`Head Trip': Local Retailer Starts Search
Article Abstract:
Specialty hat retailer Lids is shopping for an advertising agency with the aid of consultant Kilter Inc, which says it is leaning toward smaller rather than larger agencies due to the account size, reportedly $3 to $4 million. Lids hopes to build awareness and is accordingly seeking a shop with expertise in creating strong consumer brands. It most recently contracted with Lane Advertising in Salem, MA, which has created radio spots, in-store promotions and two 30-second TV commercials. Lane worked for Lids only on a project basis and chose to sever ties with the client when the commercials were completed due to what one executive termed 'creative differences.' Lids operates 400 stores in 40 states.
